The City of Lampasas is currently accepting applications for a Development Services Coordinator.  

Summary of Position

Performs a variety of complex, responsible, and confidential administrative duties requiring a thorough knowledge of organizational procedures and precedents; provides clerical assistance to the Development Services Department and/or designated staff members; performs other department-related work as required.  This position requires the ability to work independently, exercising good judgment and initiative.  Responsible for preparing for and conducting Planning and Zoning meetings and Zoning Board of Adjustment meetings.  Receives, logs, and distributes building plans for plan review; checks and reviews permit applications and supporting documents for proper form, the sufficiency of information, and conformance with legal standards; issue permits as authorized; educates customers regarding necessary permits and general code compliance of proposed projects; gathers and prepares data in written and graphic form for use by the Development Services Department.

Salary range is $21.596/hour to $25.916 /hour, DOQ, plus excellent benefits.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

Knowledge of:  standard office practices and procedures; Texas Open Meetings Act; Texas Government Code; basic knowledge of building codes;

Skill/Ability to:  operate business computer; familiar with Office Products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.; read manuals, letters, and memos; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; interpret policies and procedures; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the general public.  Ability to learn and understand City of Lampasas Code of Ordinances, Zoning Regulations and Records Retention.  Familiar with City of Lampasas website, zoning ordinances, research methods, principles, and practices of municipal planning; organization, procedures, and operating details of the department. 

Acceptable Experience and Training 

• High school diploma, or its equivalent, plus two years’ experience working in municipal government
• or a combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities equal to two years’ experience working in municipal government

Certificates and Licenses Required 

• Must be able to obtain Permit Technician Certification within one year of employment;
• Notary Public
