POSITION OVERVIEW

Under general supervision of the Parks Superintendent, the Parks Maintenance Technician ensures the parks, athletic fields, and facilities are maintained at a high standard for public use.  This is achieved by detailed grounds development and maintenance, performing preventive and routine maintenance, and embracing the culture of Hutto.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Performs landscape maintenance on parks and grounds through mowing, edging, trimming, sawing, beautifying flower beds, and conducting irrigation checks and repairs.
• Performs maintenance on athletic fields through mowing, edging, trimming, watering, preparing infields, aerate, weed control, marking lines, and apply chemicals as needed.
• Performs daily inspections of restrooms, pavilions, parking lots, playgrounds, and park grounds.  This includes removal of trash, cleaning necessary facilities, and inventory control.
• Performs routine general maintenance to include painting, general carpentry, fence repair, concrete work, minor plumbing, minor electrical, and power washing.
• Performs routine maintenance on small engine and heavy equipment to include checking fluid levels, adequate air pressure, clean and change filters as needed.
• Ability to operate commercial equipment to include zero turned mowers, weed trimmers, sprayers, chainsaws, and heavy duty equipment (backhoe, skid steer, etc…).
• Supports City of Hutto special events by setting up, tearing down, and other miscellaneous duties.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES

• Valid Texas Driver License
• Applicator License is preferred
• Irrigation License is preferred
