Description
SUMMARY
Under general supervision, is responsible for performing inspectional work and enforcing compliance for new construction, remodeling, alterations, repairs, moving, or demolition of structures to ensure compliance with the City adopted building codes, zoning ordinances, and other related City ordinances.

REQUIREMENTS
Performs inspections of residential and commercial buildings/structures to ensure compliance with all plumbing and mechanical codes and city ordinances.
Conducts inspections to ensure proposed construction conforms to the International Plumbing Code.
Issues verbal or written orders for correction of defects in materials, workmanship, and other violations of codes and ordinances.
Investigates complaint of adopted codes and ordinances.
Inspectional work requires communication by a variety of methods and may include sitting, standing, reaching, walking, twisting, crawling, kneeling, climbing ladders of any height and may lift/carry up to 50 pounds at work sites.
Prepares inspection and/or various reports.
Performs other job-related duties/activities as requested, required, or directed.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent required (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency). Four (4) years of experience in plumbing construction and repair. Possess journeyman plumbing license issued by the State of Texas. Must obtain a Texas state license as a Plumbing Inspector within six (6) months of employment. Must obtain International Code Council (ICC) certification as a Plumbing Inspector within eighteen (18) months of employment. Must obtain a 2018 International Code Council (ICC) certification as a mechanical inspector within eighteen (18) months of employment. A valid class “C” driver’s license is required for this position.

Work is performed in an office setting and outdoors May be required to lift, hold and carry office equipment Required to sit, stand, reach, twist, walk, and bend to perform duties Required to walk on uneven surfaces.
Miscellaneous Information
Regular attendance is an essential job function. Work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, some afterhours may be required on occasions.
