Company Overview
The City of Marble Falls is a Home Rule City with a Council-Manager form of government. The City Council is comprised of seven members including the Mayor, all elected at-large and serving staggered two-year terms, with a three-term limit. The City Council appoints a professional City Manager to lead the organization and oversee the day-to-day operations of all departments.
Mike Hodge was appointed City Manager in 2014 and serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the organization. He previously served as Assistant City Manager for the City of Pearland, Texas, and Director of Public Works and Community Development for the City of Friendswood, Texas. Mr. Hodge manages and directs the efficient daily operations of the City’s 124-member staff, executes and implements policies established by the City Council, and communicates the organizational goals and values to the public.
The City has a total FY2022-23 fiscal year budget of $87 million and an ad valorem tax rate of $0.5577 per $100 of valuation.
The City has recently completed several capital improvement projects including a new police station, a multi-million-dollar park improvement project, flood mitigation and repair at the water plant stemming from the 2018 flood event. Capital projects currently underway include design of a new wastewater treatment plant, design of the second phase of park improvements along the waterfront, and a $6 million bank stabilization project for Johnson and Lakeside Parks.

The City has been certified as a Scenic City (Gold), designated a “Film Friendly Texas Community” by the Texas Film Commission as well as a “Keep Texas Beautiful” affiliate, and has been named by Texas Highways magazine as one of the top 40 cities in Texas for a travel destination.
