ASSISTANT POLICE CHIEF
The City of Kennedale, Texas (pop. 10,233) Police Department is seeking an Assistant Police Chief. Kennedale is located just southeast of Fort Worth. Are you an experienced law enforcement leader who is committed to operational excellence, professional integrity, and building strong community relationships? We are seeking an Assistant Police Chief to lead and support our department's personnel, oversee critical police operations, and help shape the strategic direction of the organization. This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact by mentoring officers, advancing public safety initiatives, and fostering trust between the police department and the community we serve.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise and mentor sergeants and civilian staff, providing leadership, performance management, coaching, and accountability.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee police operations, staffing, and resource allocation to address crime trends and community needs.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate departmental policies, procedures, and performance measures.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with city departments, prosecutors, law enforcement agencies, community organizations, elected officials, and the public.
- Respond to citizen concerns, oversee internal investigations as assigned, and promote transparency and public trust.
- Assist with budget preparation and oversight, including expenditures, equipment, fleet, and payroll.
- Oversee hiring, training, professional development, and scheduling of department personnel.
- Respond to critical incidents and emergencies, and participate in an on-call rotation.
- Stay current on applicable laws, regulations, and law enforcement best practices.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Current Texas Peace Officer License required; TCOLE Master Peace Officer Certification preferred.
- Valid Texas Class C Driver License.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with standard computer applications.
- Demonstrated integrity, sound judgment, professionalism, and reliable attendance.
- Must successfully complete all required post-offer screenings, including a drug test, psychological evaluation, polygraph examination, TCOLE background investigation, and any other applicable employment requirements.
SALARY
The starting hourly rate for this position is $108,367 annually
