- Assistant to the City Manager Operations
Description
The City of Lancaster, Texas is seeking a motivated and highly organized professional to serve as Assistant to the City Manager – Operations within the City Manager’s Office.
This position supports the City Manager’s Office through project coordination, research and analysis, legislative review, budget monitoring, and collaboration with City departments and community stakeholders. The position coordinates special projects, monitors project timelines and organizational goals, prepares reports for City leadership and City Council, and assists in responding to complex resident and stakeholder inquiries.
The Assistant to the City Manager – Operations also oversees and administers the City’s Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District and Public Improvement Districts (PIDs), including budget development and monitoring, financial analysis, meeting coordination, policy recommendations, contracts, reporting, and preparation of City Council action items.

Requirements
Minimum Education and Experience
Fifth-year college or university program certificate; or two to four years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
The successful candidate should demonstrate experience or ability in areas including:
- Public administration, municipal or local government, public policy, city management, community development, or a closely related field.
- Coordinating projects, establishing and tracking timelines, monitoring progress, and communicating project updates.
- Conducting research and analysis involving legislation, policies, procedures, budgets, contracts, expenditures, revenues, and complex inquiries.
- Preparing professional correspondence, reports, meeting minutes, agenda or action items, presentations, and other materials for leadership review.
- Budget monitoring, financial analysis, forecasting, and strategic planning.
- Working collaboratively with City leadership, department heads, residents, neighborhood groups, boards, consultants, and other stakeholders.
- Interpreting and following applicable laws, policies, and regulations.
- Providing professional and responsive customer service.
- Using accounting, database, design, project management, spreadsheet, and word processing software.
The position may require attendance at evening meetings, public meetings, special events, City Council-related meetings, or work outside regular business hours as needed to support City operations.
