Description
Under limited supervision, performs inspections for residential and commercial projects through all phases of construction. Fosters and develops a culture of positive customer service in working relationships with key staff, departmental employees, other governmental organizations, and citizens. Must be able to perform work with a broad framework of the general public, exercising judgment in defining work objectives and determining methods and systems to meet objectives. Applicants must be meticulous, very organized and focused on the details.
Requirements
Vocational/technical diploma with training in electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems and inspections, supplemented by a minimum of five years of progressively responsible building construction and/or inspections experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is preferred.
Two years’ experience in construction industry, inspections, plan review or a related field.
Must possess a valid state driver license.
Must be licensed as a Plumbing Inspector within one year of employment.
Must obtain an ICC Residential Construction Inspector certification within six months of employment.
Must obtain an ICC Commercial Construction Inspector Certification within one year of employment.
