BRIEF DESCRIPTION
Duties include driving a small transit bus, in a safe, courteous, and efficient manner, collecting the appropriate fare, and providing passenger information as required or upon request.
Requirements
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to operate a small transit bus safely
- Knowledge of city and county streets
- Ability to work effectively with the general public, especially the elderly, disabled, school children, and being attentive to needs
- Ability to recognize and report bus maintenance problems
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance
- Ability to provide excellent customer service
- Ability to quickly operate specialized equipment
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school graduate or equivalent. Preferably some experience in working with the public; OR
Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED
A Valid Class C Texas Non-Commercial Driver License (NON-CDL) with a Passenger Endorsement and the ability to maintain a satisfactory driving record.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND SAFETY HAZARDS
Daily outdoor work includes, but is not limited to, exposure to dampness, dirt, noise, temperature extremes, vehicle fumes, petroleum products, chemicals, vehicle vibrations, traffic, road conditions, and weather conditions.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Operates a small transit bus containing attendant switches, controls, levers, a mobile data terminal, a computer, a broom, a mop, and a vacuum for cleaning the bus's interior.
