Title: Camp Counselor

City of Hutto is hiring for Camp Counselor! Be the role model that makes Spring and Summer camp unforgettable.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Under the general direction of the Camp Director and Recreation Coordinator, Camp Counselors lead and interact with camp participants in group activities while maintaining a fun and safe environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Supervises, leads, and promotes educational interests in a wide variety of recreational activities, such as arts, crafts, sports, games, and hobbies.
- Cleans and maintains the facilities and equipment.
- Reports and documents in detail of any incident, accidents, or violations to parents, City of Hutto’s management and Recreation staff.
- Works with other camp staff members to plan and coordinate camp events.
- Assists in the supervision of all camp field trips to ensure rules are being followed and safety is a top priority.
- Assists with the City of Hutto special events or programs as needed.
- Performs other duties as requested or required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of sports activities, arts and crafts, or arts.
Knowledge of first aid and basic medical practices.
Knowledge of City of Hutto policies and procedures.
Skill in communicating with other city employees and the public by oral and written means.
Skill in working effectively with children ages 5 and up.
Ability to make good, quick, and sound decisions in emergency situations.
Ability to provide exceptional customer service and resolve customer inquiries and complaints.
Ability to motivate children and maintain a positive atmosphere, and if necessary, use positive disciplinary techniques.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
Ability to analyze problems and recommend or implement solutions.
Ability to lift, carry, or pull 30 pounds for short distances.
Ability to work from throughout the year to include Spring Break, Summer, Thanksgiving Break, and Christmas Break.
Ability to work a flexible shift from 6:45am to 6:15pm.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, & CERTIFICATIONS
Must be at least 16 years of age
Some work experience is preferred (babysitting, child care, camp counselor, etc.)
Certified Red Cross First Aid, CPR/AED is preferred.
