Description
This is a full-time senior administrative and strategic support position in the City’s General Department – City Secretary’s Office. Under general direction of the City Secretary, the City Council Liaison serves as a point of coordination between the Mayor and City Council. This position is responsible for assisting the City Council Senior Liaison in facilitating the flow of information, coordinating Council activities and requests, and ensuring that Council members have the information and resources needed to effectively serve their constituents within a High-Performing Organization (HPO) framework.
The City Council Liaison must be highly organized, politically astute, and detail-oriented, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills. The position requires sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to manage complex and sensitive matters involving elected officials and the public.

Supports the City Council Senior Liaison with scheduling, constituent responses, administrative coordination, and event support for the Mayor and City Council.
Maintains calendars for the Mayor and City Council members and schedules meetings as required.
Assists the City Council Senior Liaison in the administration of the Boards and Commissions program.
Assists the City Council Senior Liaison in the administration of the Mayor’s Youth Commission program.
Responds to and assists with inquiries from City Council members and the public regarding Council actions, policies, and procedures.
Assists with budget preparation and maintains annual City Council budget documentation, including balance transfers, general ledger reports, and related financial records.
Supports the City Council Senior Liaison in serving as a liaison between the City Council and City departments, boards, and commissions to coordinate activities and facilitate effective communication.
Assists the City Council Senior Liaison with constituent relations, including responding to inquiries, resolving issues, and coordinating community outreach efforts.
Conducts research and prepares briefings for City Council members on various issues and topics, as requested.
Coordinates meeting schedules, logistics, and travel arrangements for City Council members, as needed.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Subject to 24-hour recall.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.

Requirements
Education, Experience, or Certification
Associate degree with a minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible, related municipal government experience. Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Political Science, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in government or a related public sector environment.
Valid Class "C" Texas Drivers License.
