Description
Hiring Range: $32.21 - $37.04
Under the general direction of the Director of Engineering, inspects construction projects to monitor compliance with specifications, standards, materials and methods that meet or exceed Town specifications in the installation of streets, wet utilities and franchise utilities and to keep the public safe during construction.

- Provides construction site inspections for public right of way and capital improvement projects including concrete paving, subgrade, wet utilities, franchise utilities.
- Ensures project compliance with construction plans, Town standards, and specifications.
- Reviews plans and specifications for public right of way and capital improvement plans.
- Coordinates construction activities with other departments including Community Development, Parks and Public Works, and franchise utilities.
- Attends and/or conducts preconstruction meetings, preliminary and final inspections and provides technical support related to assigned job functions and projects to contractors.
- Performs administrative tasks including providing project status updates and reviews, verifying payment applications (work completed), and maintaining a daily log of activity.
- Acts as a liaison between contractors and the residents.
- Prepares written narrative and technical reports related to construction site inspections as necessary.
- Reviews sanitary sewer videos, field densities, gradations, and subgrade depths for Town standards.
- Responds to and resolves resident, contractor, developer, and general public complaints, concerns, and questions related to plan review and assigned capital improvement projects.
Other Important Duties:
- Travels to construction sites, meetings, conferences, and training.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work hours is essential.
Requirements
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of construction inspection techniques and procedures.
- Knowledge of construction materials and supply specifications and standards.
- Knowledge of measuring instruments, probe and hand excavations tools.
- Knowledge of civil construction methods, practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of computers and related equipment, hardware and software.
- Knowledge of Town policies and procedures.
- Skill in effective oral and written communications
- Skill in inspecting, reviewing, evaluating and modifying, construction plans.
- Skill in analyzing technical reports for compliance with material specifications.
- Skill in enforcing applicable Federal, State, and Town construction codes and ordinances.
- Skill in mediating differences among contractor, developers, and inspectors.
- Skill in resolving customer complaints and concerns.
Minimum Education, Experience and Certification
- High School Diploma, or GED, and four (4) years’ experience in the roadway/utility construction trade or other related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- TEEX training in Work Zone Safety, Water, Sewer, Concrete, and Construction Inspection a plus.
- Must possess a Class C State of Texas Driver’s License.
