Job Description
Customer Service Representative II in the Collection’s Division (Utility Billing) – Finance Department. Under general supervision of the Collection’s Manager responds to customer inquiries and performs a variety of duties related to the connection and disconnection of utility accounts.
Essential Job Functions
Essential Duties: Operates the Customer Service Area in accordance with City policies and procedures. Processes new accounts; transfers; and receipts. Accepts payments and ensures accuracy of information. Research; processes; and responds to customer inquiries and account requests. Assists other Customer Service Representatives in performing duties related to customer accounts and collections. Provides information to customers; receives; and ensures proper handling and/or routing of customer complaints. Performs other duties as required/assigned.
Training; Experience; or Other Requirements
Training; Experience; and/or Other Requirements: Two (2) years clerical experience involving public contact and financial transactions. Ability to work under pressure and to interpret and apply both written and oral instructions. Knowledge of general office procedures to include 10-key calculator operations and proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word is required. Must be able to communicate effectively and courteously with city employees and the public. Preference: Bilingual – English/Spanish to assist customers in community.
Position requires the following: 1) High School diploma or equivalent; 2) Valid driver’s license 3) satisfactory driving record and 4) eligibility to legally work in the U.S. The successful applicant will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background investigation.
