Description
This position shall coordinate the review of private projects and land development plans for compliance with codes, regulations and standards, adequacy of applications for permits, and overall compliance with City regulations. Reviews zoning change applications, and assists the Planning and Zoning Commission with recommendations, supporting documentation, and presentation to the Planning & Zoning Commission and the City Council. Manages the agenda and serves as staff liaison for the Zoning Board of Adjustments, and Planning and Zoning Commission. Required to attend evening meetings including but not limited to: Public hearings; City Council appointed Board and Commission meetings; and other meetings as assigned. Leader in the development of departmental priorities, objectives and goals, and actively seeks out new processes and technologies to help improve departmental efficiency and effectiveness. Develops and implements projects and programs for the Community Development Department and establishes broad priorities and work sequences under the direction of the City Manager. Coordinates responses to public or other inquiries relating to building codes, design, permitting procedures and construction practices and compliance. Day to day supervisory responsibility of staff members, contractors and subcontractors.
Requirements
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree with course work in construction management, urban planning or civil engineering, public administration, or a related field;
Certified Flood Plain Manager
Considerable increasingly responsible experience in a related field including related supervisory or administrative experience; and,
Alternately, any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities;
Possession of a valid Texas State Driver License
