Description
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree college in Public Health, Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related field and Two (2) years of food establishment and pool inspection related experience.
Must possess a valid state of Texas Registered Sanitarian license at the time of application.
Must obtain a Pool Operator Certification within one year of date of employment.
Knowledge of computers and related equipment, hardware and software for maintaining and tracking of safety and health inspections and noncompliance issues.
Knowledge of public health and sanitation codes and practices in the State of Texas.
Knowledge of Federal, State and City health and safety laws, codes, and ordinances.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Skills in effective oral and written communication.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background, and MVR check.
Must possess valid State of Texas Driver’s License.
May be required to seek additional certifications.
Under general supervision of the Health and Code Compliance Manager, or designee, the Environmental Health Specialist conducts health and safety inspections and enforces health and food safety codes. Responsible for plan and specification reviews of commercial swimming pools and spas, inspection of semi-public and public pools, and inspection of nonfixed food establishments.
