Description
Responsible for troubleshooting and repairing commercial grade systems, construction inspections and/or oversight, in one of the following trade specialties: heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing and/or electrical systems for Citywide buildings constructed and/or maintained by Facilities Management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

DUTIES
- Schedule, perform maintenance work, based on the Preventative Maintenance Program; use computer and/or tablet for completed work.
- Ensure all work is compliant with State, County, and City codes; work with contractor on repairs.
- Assist in compiling data for the computerized work order system.
- Coordinate maintenance contracts, as assigned.
- Train technical staff, as needed.
- Assist in gathering quotes for annual budget.
- Attend major design and/or construction meetings.
- Evaluate work needed; inform leadership if a subcontractor is needed for repairs and/or service and gather quotes.
- Maintain card access security system components including, but not limited to, readers and panels.
- Complete general carpentry and repair work including, but not limited to, drywall, ceiling systems, flooring, furniture, signage, and flagpoles.
- Assist internal stakeholders with hanging wall items including, but not limited to, TVs, pictures, and art.
PLUMBING
- Repair, replace, and/or inspect Commercial plumbing systems.
- Install and maintain plumbing systems including, but not limited to, drains, water fountains, commodes, urinals, sinks, and faucets.

- Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment; ensure equipment is in safe operating condition.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing; operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
- Promptly report unsafe conditions in the work area and/or any conditions that are not immediately correctable to the supervisor.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Safety Sensitive (Subject to random drug testing): Yes.
- Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including computer and peripherals, operation of a motor vehicle, hand and power tools and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Posture: Prolonged standing, stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling, reaching overhead, and twisting.
- Motion: Frequent walking, lifting, carrying, climbing, balancing, reaching, and repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and use of mouse.
- Lifting: Lifting no more than 50 pounds and carrying up to 25 pounds.
- Environment: Works inside and outside including above ceilings, rooftops, crawlspaces, and basements with exposure to sun, heat, cold, humidity, and inclement weather, vibration, noise, dust, chemicals, odors, fumes, gases, heights, confined spaces, uneven ground, and rough terrain; occasionally requires irregular and/or prolonged hours.
- Travel: Travels to City of Denton buildings and professional meetings as required.
- Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position. Must be able to work overtime, as needed. Must be able to respond to call-in within one (1) hour and be responsible for call when your name comes up on rotation list. Must be available to be on stand-by and work emergency callouts.

Requirements
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalent; and,
- Must have and maintain valid Texas Master or Journeyman Plumbing License; and,
- Four (4) years’ experience on plumbing systems
OR
- Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Must have and maintain a valid Class “C” Driver’s License and valid state required minimum automobile liability insurance prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class “C” driver’s license and state required minimum automobile liability insurance within 90 days of hire per state law)
- Must pass a drug test, driver’s license check, criminal history background check and social security number verification.
- Must pass a physical examination.
- Must have and maintain valid Texas Master or Journeyman Plumbing License.
