PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Facility Supervisor supports the planning, scheduling, and execution of facility maintenance and operational activities, helping ensure the city's public assets remain safe, efficient, and well-maintained. This position is responsible for the supervisor of operating and maintaining all equipment assigned to ensure the upkeep and appearance of all rights-of-way, roads, municipal facilities, signage and grounds. All work will be completed prioritized under the supervision of the City Administrator. Some overtime may be required in the evenings or weekends to support city activities or assist in emergency repairs of city infrastructure.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process work orders to completion, including accurately documenting and maintaining required records and report.
- Cut grass and trim shrubs/ trees on City property and/or R-O-W as required.
- Maintain all city facilities to include administrative offices, police department and other city-owned properties to ensure a neat and groomed appearance to include sweeping and mopping or vacuuming on a weekly basis.
- Perform maintenance on city streets to include pot-hole repair, sign repair/replacement and right-of-way maintenance to include mowing/shredding, brush removal, tree-trimming, weed-eating and spraying of weed-killer. No work on private property or outside the city limits.
- Coordinate with Fort Bend County Animal Control for animal control activities.
- Operate city equipment to include tractor/shredder, backhoe, skid loader, maintainer, city trucks, pressure washer, weed-eater, chainsaw and other equipment in the performance of assigned duties and maintain said equipment in a safe and good working order.
- Attend required training and professional development sessions as necessary or deemed appropriate for professional credentialing.
- Communicate with city employees, representatives, and citizens in a professional and effective manner.
- Maintain equipment inventory.
- Coordinating with contractors to perform maintenance work on city-owned facilities.
- Other duties as required or assigned to support and maintain city operations.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Affective communication skills.
- Knowledge of how to use necessary equipment for various functions of maintenance.
- Ability to effectively supervise personnel.
- Ability to complete daily work reports, timesheets and operation of laptop for work orders.
- Provide a positive working environment for and maintain a positive working relationship with fellow employees.
- Ability to read, write and understand the English language.
- Knowledge of basic computer skills/abilities.
- Experience developing cost estimates.
- Must exhibit excellent customer service skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or completion of a vocational or trade school program.
- Minimum of five years' experience in supervision
- Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
Ability to work effectively under extreme pressure/stress while performing Essential Job Duties.
