Description
Under direction, is responsible for investigating, recording, and/or responding for maintenance, repair or televising of the City public infrastructure and makes preliminary determination of type of work required. Working conditions are primarily outside and in underground drainage systems with confined spaces. Outdoor environment with frequent exposure to temperature extremes, traffic construction dust; damp/wet surfaces, overhead power lines, animal/insect bites, high noise, oily surfaces, liquid asphalt and lime. Exercises no supervision.

Work Hours
6:00 a.m. - 4:45 p.m., Monday - Thursday or Tuesday - Friday; May require working emergency response or inclement weather events
Essential Job Functions
- Inspects underground drainage infrastructure using Close-Circuit Television (CCTV) and/or visual inspections of drainage infrastructure.
- Performs drainage locating and transfers information to site maps or mapping software.
- Gathers and reports GPS data.
- Performs basic maintenance of televising equipment.
- Conducts site visits to assess requests.
- Respond to situations where maintenance or repair of public infrastructures may need to be performed, frequently lifting and carrying equipment weighing 25 pounds.
- Determines ownership and responsibility for areas in need of maintenance or repair.
- Determines type of maintenance or repair to be completed.
- Ensures compliance with safety and equipment standards, standard operating procedures and service level agreements.
- Coordinates with appropriate personnel for maintenance and repairs. Plans, coordinates, and controls work zone traffic.
- Prepares reports and maintains necessary records of work scheduled and performed.
- May have to perform minor maintenance and repairs when applicable.
- Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency).
- Three (3) years of experience in field construction and maintenance, one (1) of which needs to be with pipe video inspection programs.)
- Valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to operate televising equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot and use video and electrical test equipment.
- Working knowledge of computers and various software applications.
- Ability to read as-builts and site plans.
- Ability to prepare clear and comprehensive reports.
- Ability to work on confined spaces.
- Ability to communicate successfully in both verbal and written correspondence with internal and external customers.
- Working knowledge of various types of drainage infrastructure.
