Description
REQUIRED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES; including but not limited to:
WATER
- Checks pump stations daily for proper operation
- Obtains reading and calculations at pump stations daily
- Maintains and cleans pump stations when needed
- Obtains reading from water meters as requested
- Performs turn-offs/turn-ons on a monthly basis
- Maintain proper service on company vehicle
- Maintain proper service on all equipment
- Repair water meters when needed
- Assists office personnel on a daily basis
- Must maintain a “C” water and sewer license, in order to obtain readings
SEWER
- Perform related duties as assigned.
GROUNDS KEEPING
- Operate vehicles and powered equipment, such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, chain saws, electric clippers, and pruning saws.
- Care for established city grounds
- Maintain or repair tools, equipment, or structures, such as buildings, greenhouses, fences, or benches, using hand or power tools.
Requirements
Physical Demands and Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl; and smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to perform heavy physical labor, including having sufficient strength to lift and carry tools and materials weighing up to 90 pounds. While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment may be moderate to loud depending on working conditions.
Skills/Abilities
- Drive trucks, including with a tractor and operate a variety of heavy equipment.
- Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools and equipment used in the work.
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Properly place cones, barricades, and warning devices and direct traffic flow at job sites.
- Perform heavy physical labor.
- Exercise independent judgment and initiative without close supervision.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work.
