The City of Lampasas is currently accepting applications for the position of Firefighter/EMT.
Summary of Position
Responds to emergency fire and medical incidents; provides support functions, including vehicle and equipment maintenance, emergency responses, records and reporting duties, and emergency medical treatment. Position plans, organizes, directs and controls fire/rescue service functions within applicable laws, codes, rules and regulations.
Starting salary is $17.76/hour, DOQ, plus overtime, certificate pay and excellent benefits.
Shift work - 48/96
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of: fire prevention, inspection, investigation, and suppression equipment, principles, methods, and practices; local codes related to fire prevention; state statutes, city ordinances, and criminal law; and standard office practices and procedures.
Skill/Ability to: operate computers, including word processing and spreadsheet software; establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the general public; develop, organize, motivate, and effectively utilize staff; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; read and interpret manuals, policies, and other documents; and operate fire suppression equipment
Applicants will be required to pass a physical agility test and written exam. Candidates will be notified in advance of the testing date(s), time(s) and location.
Acceptable Experience and Training
o High school diploma or its equivalent;
o or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Certificates and Licenses Required
o Basic firefighter certification from the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP);
o Basic Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification;
o Must be able to obtain a Class B Texas Drivers’ license within one year of hire
