Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus six (6) years of experience in a related field.
Completion of an accredited automotive, diesel or related certification program may substitute for required experience up to a maximum of six (6) months.
Graduation with an Associate degree from an accredited college or university in a related field may substitute for experience, up to a maximum of two (2) years.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
Requires a Class "C" driver's license. If required, must obtain an appropriate Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within 120 days of employment with the City.
If applicable, must be licensed within six (6) months of employment as a Texas State Vehicle Inspector in accordance with Texas Department of Public Safety procedures and regulations.
Must be certified within six (6) months of employment with respect to EPA standards in air conditioning service, repairs, and Freon recovery, including Freon recovery equipment operations.
Must possess and maintain at least one Current Fleet Master Tech Certification (ASE Light, Med/Heavy or EVT Master).
Equipment Hand Tool Requirements:
An incumbent must provide his or her own hand tools, including wrenches, sockets, ratchets, toolbox, etc., as a condition of employment. The individual must meet the minimum hand tool requirements within six (6) months of employment.
Physical Requirements:
Essential duties are performed in a service center environment with exposure to a variety of motorized equipment, spare parts, tools, oil and lubrication, corrosive liquids, and other potentially hazardous materials.
Incumbent may be exposed to loud noise, warm and cold conditions, standing for long periods, frequent stooping and bending, and lifting up to fifty (50) pounds.
Individuals will need to have good eye-and-hand coordination and read and write in dimly-lit conditions.
