Description
FUNCTION: Performs duties of position under general direction from the PPSII and PPSIII. Responsible for the operation of the auxiliary equipment in the electrical generating facilities on an assigned shift and performs related duties as required. After mastering the PPSI position, the incumbent shall begin training for the PPS II position.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitors the daily operation of GEUS electric generating facilities in a safe, reliable, and responsible manner
- Shadows and assists the PPS III and PPS II personnel in their duties
- Continuously checks on the operational status of the electric generating facilities and ancillary equipment by visual observation or via control system(s) indications and records information via manual or electronic logs
- Observes, monitors, controls, and logs for auxiliary equipment, such as pumps, fans, compressors, condensers, feedwater heaters, filters, feedwater, fuel, lubricants, air, and auxiliary power to ensure they are adequately maintained.
- Reviews reports and shadows PPS III and PPS II personnel regarding corrective action that have been performed concerning equipment adjustments and minor / major repairs.
- Monitors and visually inspects electric generating facility equipment and indicators to detect evidence of operational issues and provides reports of status
- Assists Production personnel placing standby emergency electrical generation online during emergencies and monitors system temperature, pressure, output, and lubrication
- Maintains, cleans, and lubricates equipment such as generators, turbines, pumps, and compressors, as appropriate, to prevent equipment failure or deterioration of the electric generating facilities, ancillary equipment, and plant site.
- Participates in root cause analyses for failed equipment or systems
- Participates in maintenance and EI&C activities to advance knowledge of plant
- Supports Mechanical Maintenance and EI&C as needed during periods of unit layup and low demand

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 1 - 3 years of experience performing in related areas of responsibility.
- Capable of multi-tasking
- Ability to analyze and process information quickly to choose the best solution and solve problems
- Communicate in a very clear and concise manner with supervisors and peers
- Ability to explain complex information and simplifying it so that it is easily understood
- Demonstrate proficiency in the use of tools and equipment appropriate to job responsibilities
- Ability to utilize computer and computer systems (including hardware and software) such as the Microsoft Office suite of products, particularly Excel and Microsoft Word
- Exhibit deductive reasoning e.g. the ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
- Exhibit inductive reasoning e.g. the ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions that also includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events
Ability of perceptual speed which is the ability to quickly and accurately compare similarities and differences among sets of letters, numbers, objects, pictures, or patterns
PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Ability to lift 50-pound objects; excessive walking, repetitive bending, stooping, and climbing multiple stars, climb a ladder; may be required to work 12-hour rotating shift schedule, endure above average weather conditions such as periods of high heat or extreme cold.
