The City of Mont Belvieu, Texas is currently acceping applications for Golf Course Maintenance Superintendent in the Parks & Recreation Department. The City of Mont Belvieu is a growing community located on IH-10 east of Houston, Texas in Chambers County.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The City of Mont Belvieu is seeking its next Golf Course Maintenance Superintendent for Eagle Pointe Golf Club. After years of dedicated leadership, our respected Superintendent is retiring, creating an opportunity for someone to step in and build onto the strong foundation and reputation of Eagle Pointe. This comes at a pivotal time in Eagle Pointe’s history, as several capital improvements have recently been completed, with more in progress. Completed projects include; the construction of 3 new holes, which made way for a new lighted practice range with mats, covered hitting bays and Trackman technology, and a lighted 7-hole par 3 course that will open in May of this year. In accordance with the Eagle Pointe Golf Club Master Plan that was adopted in 2021, construction has begun on an additional 3-hole renovation that will address problem areas on the course, and design is underway on a new Maintenance Facility.
The Golf Course Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for the comprehensive management and maintenance of all Eagle Pointe properties to include; Eagle Pointe Golf Clubs 18-holes, 7-hole Par 3 course, practice facilities, clubhouse grounds, and the mowing & trimming of Eagle Pointe Recreation Center, Hilltop Senior Center and Eagle Pointe Dr. This position is responsible for maintaining the golf course in championship-level condition while ensuring exceptional playing experience for members and guests and meeting overall presentation standards for our residents. The Superintendent will lead, train, and manage the grounds staff and oversee agronomic programs, equipment, irrigation systems, and course improvement projects.
This is a key leadership role within the Parks & Recreation Department, that will work closely with the Director and Assistant Director, as well as the Head Golf Professional, to execute annual operational initiatives and steer long-range planning.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide overall agronomic leadership to ensure the highest standards of turf quality, course conditioning, and presentation.
Develop and execute comprehensive agronomic programs, including fertilization, integrated pest management, irrigation scheduling, and cultural practices.
Manage, maintain, and optimize irrigation and drainage systems to promote healthy turf and water efficiency.
Recruit, train, supervise, and motivate maintenance staff to foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and attention to detail.
Prepare, administer, and manage the annual maintenance budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility while maintaining premium course conditions.
Ensure full compliance with environmental regulations, safety standards, and pesticide application requirements.
Manage equipment fleet maintenance and replacement planning to achieve optimal performance, reduce sunken maintenance costs and maximize lifespan of assets.
Oversee vendor relationships and contract services.
Work with Department leadership to assess and address needs through capital improvement projects and fixed asset replacement schedule.
During emergency conditions, all City employees are subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situation and are expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.

Exercises administrative direction to Golf Course Maintenance Supervisor and Golf Course Maintenance staff.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
Five (5) or more years of experience in golf course maintenance operations
Must possess a non-commercial Political Pesticide Applicator License issued by the Texas Department of Agriculture within six (6) months of hire.
Must possess a valid Texas Driver License.
Successful candidates must pass pre-employment drug screen, job related physical and background check.
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job will be considered when hiring for this role.
PREFFERED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, or a related field preferred.
Bilingual communication skills (English/Spanish) preferred.
