Description
SUMMARY: Under general supervision, performs installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair ofthe City’s network, telecommunications, server, and end-user technology systems. Provides technical support to City departments to ensure reliable and secure technology operations.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Reviews systems to identify and resolve technical issues; maintains system hardware, including desktop and laptop computers, servers, monitors, handheld devices, and related equipment.
Ensures software applications and operating systems are kept current and properly licensed.
Installs, configures, and troubleshoots end-user devices and peripherals.
Connects, terminates, and maintains network and telecommunications cabling.
Configures and supports network servers; ensures system backups are completed and verified regularly.
Implements and enforces security controls on networks and servers under the direction of IT leadership.
Configures systems and monitors firewall, endpoint protection, intrusion detection, and other security-related applications.
Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
Provides staff training and instruction on the use of hardware and software systems.
Provides technical assistance for radio communications infrastructure and 911 dispatching systems, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
Provides technical support for City website updates and maintenance, as needed.
Provides recommendations for hardware, software, and technology services.
Supports positive relationships between the City and the public by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors, and City staff; maintains confidentiality of City information; and performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge:
City policies, procedures, and operational practices.
Networking concepts and infrastructure.
Server hardware and system maintenance.
Enterprise systems and applications (e.g., Tyler Technologies).
Storage area networks and backup systems.
System and information security principles.
Radio communications and public safety systems.
Microsoft Office, Windows operating systems, and related applications.
Customer service principles and best practices.
Skill in:
Technical troubleshooting and problem resolution.
Managing multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
Time management and organizational skills.
Analyzing issues and implementing practical solutions.
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with City staff, vendors, and the public.
Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field; and three (3) years
of experience in information technology support, including local and wide area networks and
telecommunications systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION:
None.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is primarily performed in an indoor office environment. The position may require climbing ladders,
working in confined spaces, and lifting or carrying equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasional afterhours
or on-call work may be required.
