- Lead Animal Care Technician
Description
The Lead Animal Care Technician provides advanced support in daily shelter operations, volunteer coordination, and rescue placement activities. Primary duties include assisting citizens with adoptions, registrations, and animal reclamations; administering vaccinations, microchips, medications, and drawing blood for health assessments; and serving as the primary coordinator for volunteer orientation, onboarding, scheduling, and training. This position is also responsible for assisting the Outreach Coordinator with rescue outreach and placement efforts, including initiating and maintaining communication with approved rescue and adoption partners, coordinating transfer logistics, supporting timely placement of animals, and ensuring all required documentation and records are complete and accurate. Additional responsibilities include maintaining detailed records, preparing reports, and performing euthanasia as required. Further duties involve overseeing daily staff operations and shelter activities; training community service workers and volunteers; responding to service requests via telephone, email, and social media; and assisting with general animal care, enrichment, and shelter maintenance. The role requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
PAY GRADE GG14 / FULL PAY RANGE $21.61 - $30.47 PER HOUR

Requirements
A high school diploma or equivalent and three years of customer service experience, including two years in animal welfare or a related field required. Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office products and must obtain DSHS-approved euthanasia technician certification within six months of hire. Animal Control Officer certification is preferred. Hours may include evenings and weekends. A résumé must be submitted with the application.
