Description
Duties include providing technical support for the Water Utilities comprehensive leak detection program to minimize water loss as required by state and federal regulations; using the full range of leak detection methods including traditional acoustic assessment to conduct proactive surveys, reactive leak pinpointing for repair crews, manual surveys, satellite surveys and continuous system monitoring with logger and listening devices/equipment used to find and locate system breaches causing water loss; preparing work orders and notifying field repair staff of leaks discovered in the city’s water distribution system; and notifying customers regarding residential and commercial private leaks; and responding to service calls concerning leaks. Duties also include providing data for inclusion in reports that document the full scope of the city’s leak detection program; tracking linear footage reviewed and leak locations for reports and KPIs; supporting the city’s water conservation and drought contingency plans by patrolling the city to identify irrigation violations, private leaks and related offenses including “theft of water;” writing Notices of Violation (NOVs) and citations; gathering backup information used in the prosecution of offenses; ensuring appropriate documentation; coordinating with water conservation, dispatch, and reception staff for timely response to calls and maintaining up-to-date records; and attending and assisting with public events, such as Frost Fest, Independence Day celebrations and Halloween events.
PAY GRADE GG15 / FULL PAY RANGE $22.75 - $32.08 PER HOUR

Requirements
A high school diploma or GED and two years of progressively responsible water utilities experience with one year of continuous leak detection training and experience required. Possess and maintain a Class C Texas driver’s license, and TCEQ Class D Water Operator License with ability to obtain a Class C Water Operator License within one year. Night and weekend hours are sometimes required. A résumé must be submitted with application.
