Description
Irving Public Library is seeking an innovative, creative and engaging customer service oriented professional part-time librarian to assist with children’s programming. Duties include development of a full range of library services, programs and activities for children, families and caregivers; and overseeing the work of assigned staff. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, organized, and enjoy working with children and families; and capable of developing and conducting original, vibrant programming for children that encourages reading, creative thinking, and promotes the use of the library and its materials. The person hired will work as part of the Outreach Team and assist in the library locations as needed, staffing the information and circulation desks. Irving Public Library’s mission is to provide access to information for lifelong learning and promote the enjoyment of reading. PAY GRADE GG18 / FULL PAY RANGE $26.72 - $37.67 PER HOUR

Requirements
Any combination of experience equivalent to a Master of Library Science degree from an American Library Association accredited program and one year professional library or related experience. Applicants also should have strong knowledge and appreciation of children’s literature. Bilingual (English / Spanish) skills are beneficial. Schedule includes weekend and evening hours. Applicants will need to have a strong desire and experience working with children. Applicants must submit a résumé and indicate hours of availability with application.
