The City of Sugar Land is seeking a full-time Open Records Technician in the City Clerk's Office.

We pay our Open Records Technician starting salary of $46,259– $53,206 depending on your qualifications and experience. As a Open Records Technician, you will:
Processes open records requests within the time mandated by the Texas Public Information Act and other state statutes.
Coordinates the collection of responsive documents from appropriate departments within the city.
Receives and reviews all open records requests and makes initial determination as to which requests require an opinion from the Office of the Attorney General, coordinating these requests for final review with the City Attorney’s office.
Works closely with Attorneys to stay informed of possible and pending litigation and legal holds on records that would require an Attorney General Opinion, if requested.
Composes, edits, and types correspondence, memoranda, reports, and other documents using various work and data processing software, requiring knowledge of rules of grammar and practices of document preparation. records request tracking software.
Serves as backup to provide notary services to citizens as needed.
Required to work as an essential employee before, during, and after an emergency or disaster, whether natural or acts of war.
Performs all other duties, special tasks, and responsibilities as directed, both independently and/or as part of a team effort.
Requirements
Education:
Associate's degree in business, records/information management, public administration, or related field. preferred.
Relatable Work Experience:
2+ years of experience in processing Open Records Requests as required by the Public Information Act law.
Additional relevant work experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above knowledge, skill, and education requirements may be substituted in place of specific education requirements.
Texas Municipal Clerk's Certification (preferred)
License and/or Certification:
Valid Texas Driver License
Texas Notary Commission (must be eligible to become a Texas notary)
CJIS (must be able to obtain CJIS certification)
