Description
Position Summary
The Parks and Recreation Director is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating the operations, maintenance, and programming of all City parks, recreational facilities, cemetery grounds, and the municipal waterpark. This position provides leadership to departmental staff, oversees budgeting and capital improvement planning, coordinates with advisory boards, and ensures compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in parks and recreation management, including at least three (3) years in a supervisory capacity.
Valid Texas Class C driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
Current Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a related field.
Experience in municipal government parks and recreation operations.
Knowledge of cemetery operations and management.
CPR/First Aid and Lifeguard Instructor certifications.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Work is performed in both office and outdoor environments, with exposure to varying weather conditions.
Requires frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
May require evening, weekend, and holiday work for events and emergencies.
