The City of Lampasas is currently accepting applications for the position of Plant Operator.
Summary of Position
Maintains water/wastewater treatment and collection facilities in proper working condition as required by state and federal regulations.
Starting salary is $18.565/hour, DOQ, plus excellent benefits.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of: methods, practices, and equipment used in water/wastewater treatment and collection facilities; departmental policies and procedures; laboratory testing and procedures; and the safe operation of heavy equipment and of the Texas Motor Vehicle Code relating to the operation of such motorized equipment.
Skill/Ability to: diagnose, repair, and maintain wastewater treatment facilities, applying safety standards to prevent hazards; learn and comply with state and federal regulations applicable to wastewater treatment and collection facilities; prepare concise and accurate reports; perform simple mathematical calculations; understand and follow instructions; establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers; tolerate outside working conditions including exposure to adverse weather conditions; and maintain appropriate necessary certifications.
Acceptable Experience and Training
o High school diploma, or its equivalent, plus 3 years of experience in water/wastewater operations, or related field
o or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
Certificates and Licenses Required
o Valid Class C Texas drivers’ license with ability to obtain a Valid Class B Texas commercial drivers’ license
o Ability to obtain Class C Wastewater license within required timeframe
o Ability to obtain Class C Water Distribution license within required timeframe
