Description
The City of Seadrift is seeking a dependable and motivated Entry-Level Public Works Employee to assist with general maintenance of city infrastructure and public facilities. This part-time position is ideal for individuals looking to gain municipal public works experience while supporting essential city operations.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with routine maintenance of streets, drainage areas, parks, and public facilities.
- Perform mowing, weed-eating, trash removal, and general groundskeeping tasks.
- Help maintain city buildings, equipment, and public spaces.
- Support water and wastewater staff with basic tasks such as meter reading, minor repairs, and recordkeeping.
- Operate light equipment and tools safely (mowers, hand tools, small machinery).
- Follow safety procedures and report hazards or maintenance needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
- No previous public works experience required; training will be provided.
- Experience in landscaping, maintenance, or construction is a plus.
Licenses & Certifications:
- Valid Texas Driver's License required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to perform physical labor, lift up to 50 lbs, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new skills.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to follow instructions.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a small team.
Work Schedule
- Part-time position; hours may vary based on seasonal needs and workload.
- Occasional weekend or after-hours work may be requested.
