About the Role
The City of Italy Public Works Department is seeking a dependable, hardworking individual to join our team as either a Maintenance worker or a Crew Lead. Public works handles Water/Sewer, Parks, and Streets.
Key Responsibilities
-Water & Wastewater: Perform daily maintenance and operational tasks across the water distribution, groundwater ,sewer collection, and waste water treatment system.
-Parks and Streets: Maintain city park and properties, mowing brush clearing, street repairs, sign replacements and basic storm drainage maintenance.
-Field Operations: Operates equipment (backhoe, mini-excavator, mowers, dump truck, jetter, trailers and hand tools)and responds to utility line repairs, emergency call-outs as needed and on call rotation.
-Crew Leadership (Crew Lead Only): Lead daily field tasks, guide team members, track project progress, and ensure safety standards on job site.
Salary
Pay Rate/Salary depending on qualifications.

Qualifications & Licensing Requirements
For Crew Lead Position:
- Must hold at least a valid TCEQ license at the time of hire (e.g., Class C water dist. Ground water, wastewater collections or treatment)
- Must have or be able to obtain a Class C Groundwater and Class C wastewater treatment within 2 years of employment.
-Minimum 3+years of hands-on municipal utility or construction experience preferred.
For Maintenance Worker Position:
-High school diploma or GED
-Prior experience in pubic works, utilities, equipment operation, or construction is a plus
-Must be able to obtain a class C Groundwater and Class C wastewater treatment within 2 years of employment (training and coursework support provided).
General Requirements:
-Valid Texas Driver's License
-Ability to pass a background check
-Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation for weekends, holidays, and after-hours emergencies.
-Physical ability to work outdoors in all Texas weather conditions and perform manual labor.
