- Public Works Technician
Description
The City of Hico is currently accepting applications for full time Public Works technician. The public works technician would be responsible for assisting public works employees as needed or assigned. The role involves both independent work and collaboration with a team to complete assigned projects effectively. This position is responsible for performing maintenance, repair, and construction tasks related to streets, drainage, and parks. The position requires the ability to operate and maintain city owned vehicles, such as pick-up trucks, backhoes, zero turn mowers, brush hog, jet machine. The candidate will be required to use and maintain skid steer, power tools, such as chainsaws, weed eaters, drills, etc. The public works technician may be required to fulfill other duties as requested. This position will require work in extreme conditions heat, cold, rainy and icy weather, and will require the employee to sit, stand, bend, and move up to 50 lbs.
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS & PREFERRED QUALIFICIATIONS
> Must be at least 18 years old and a class C drivers license is required.
> Experience in municipal water and wastewater operations; knowledge of water distribution and wastewater collection systems.
> Must pass a pre-employment drug test, background check, and MVR check.
> Strongly preferred TCEQ Class D Water License and/or Class I Wastewater License preferred or ability to obtain. Also, ability to obtain higher-level license within specified timeframe.
> Work holidays, evenings, and weekend as needed; subject to after-hours emergency call-outs.
> The City of Hico offers full-time employees with vacation time, paid sick time, employer paid health insurance, enrollment in Texas Municipal Retirement System, and uniform allowance.
