Description
The Bartlett Police Department is currently accepting applications for Reserve Peace Officers. Reserve Peace Officers are under general supervision and are responsible for providing police protection to the citizens and businesses of the City of Bartlett. The Reserve Peace Officer is a non-paid position with the Bartlett Police Department.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
Assists the regular members of the Bartlett Police Department in the enforcement of the law and maintenance of peace and order. Depending on their level of training and experience, reserves may be assigned to work with a regular police officer, another reserve, or function in a solo status. Reserves are expected serve a minimum of 24 hours of duty per month or 288 hours per year, special events and call outs.
Applicants must successfully complete the selection process as specified by state and local rules for the appointment of peace officers.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to give, understand, and follow written and oral instructions, departmental policy, rules, regulations and laws.
- Knowledge of the use and care of vehicles, firearms, and specialized equipment
- Knowledge of city geography
- Good driving skills
- Ability to attend and understand police officer training courses.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other law enforcement agencies, judicial officials, and the general public; ability to analyze situations and adopt a quick, effective, and reasonable course of action.
- Is mentally and physically fit to perform the required duties.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Completion of the Texas peace officer basic licensing course and eligibility for licensure.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
A Valid Class C Texas driver license and the ability to maintain a satisfactory driving record. Must possess and maintain a valid Texas peace officer license and maintain firearms qualification and other required training.
Applicants must successfully complete an interview, background investigation, physical ability test, polygraph examination, psychological test, physical examination and drug screening.
This position is not eligible for other city benefits such as sick leave, vacation or retirement.
