BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
To supervise the safety and rescue of patrons at Splash Station, as well as prevent injuries. Enforce aquatic facility rules and regulations. Provides members and guests with a safe and enjoyable aquatic experience. This is a non-supervisory position. No minimum number of hours are guaranteed.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Requires knowledge of lifeguard skills and safety programs
Ability to work in extreme outdoor conditions
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other departmental employees and with the general public
Requires the ability to swim
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must be at least 16 years of age and prefer at least one (1) year of previous Lifeguard experience; OR
Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Successful completion of the American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Course and successful completion of the CPR/AED/First Aid course (training provided) within sixty (60) days of employment.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND SAFETY HAZARDS:
Primarily works in an outdoor environment, but is also able to operate indoors when necessary. May be exposed to extreme heat and cold during the summer and winter months.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
Standard office equipment, including multi-line telephone, computer, fax machine, copier, scanner, printer, etc.
Anything regarding lifeguarding or emergency equipment.
