- Senior Activity Center Supervisor
Description
Performs mid-level workoverseeing the planning, coordination, and management of recreational programs and operations at the City's Senior Activity Center. This position involves directing staff, organizing events, managing budgets, and ensuring the delivery of quality services to the senior community. Generally, this position uses moderately complex skills and works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Essential Duties & Required Qualifications
Develops, plans, implements, and evaluates programs and events at the Senior Activity Center.
Identifies community needs and recommend appropriate programs related to senior services.
Directly supervises assigned staff members and provides coaching and career development.
Establishes schedules and oversees activities at the Senior Activity Center.
Participates in budget preparation and monitors expenditures for recreation programs.
Procures supplies and materials needed for center operations and city events.
Collaborates with departmental stakeholders to set goals, policies, and priorities.
Makes recommendations for improvements to standards, policies, and procedures.
Coordinates facility use and program scheduling with maintenance staff.
Prepares financial and participation reports for recreation programs.
Secures sponsorships for programs and events.
Recruits and manages contracts for independent contractors and program vendors.
Works with the City's Public Information Officer to promote programs through various media.
Oversees aquatic services provided during summer months.
Assists with financial reporting and vendor payments in the City's financial system.
Serves as a liaison on City recreation committees and community groups.
Coordinates with other City departments and external agencies on community service activities.
Promotes community recreation services through public engagement and outreach efforts.
May occasionally be asked to drive the Senior Center Activity Passenger Van, in the event that the City’s bus driver is not available.
Performs other related tasks as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree from accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in recreation administration or closely related coursework.
Minimum of three years of full-time recreation or event programming experience with a Parks & Recreation organization or similar industry.
Minimum of two years of supervisory experience.
OR,
A high school diploma AND an equivalent combination of education and experience (minimum of seven years) in recreation and event programming with a Parks & Recreation organization or a similar industry.
Minimum of two years of supervisory experience.
Required Certificate and Licenses
Valid Texas Class B CDL driver’s license (Passenger Endorsement), or the ability to obtain the license within one year from hire date.
Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) certification or the ability to obtain it within six months of hire.
First Aid and CPR/AED certification required, or ability to obtain it within the six months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
Active/current Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) certification.
Bachelor's or Graduate Degree in recreation administration or closely related coursework.
Experience working for a government entity such as City, State, County.

- Ability to work hours other than the regular daytime schedule such as shift work, on call, or emergency response situations (i.e., early-mornings, afternoons, evenings, and late-nights shifts, weekends).
- Knowledge of Methods and techniques of scheduling work assignments; methods and techniques for record keeping and report preparation and writing with proper punctuation, spelling and grammar.
- Skill in using computers and related software applications.
- Skill in data analysis and problem solving.

- Ability to plan and schedule operations.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with City employees, the public, elected officials, and boards and commissions.
