JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision of the Golf Professional, play golf at a level to be a member of the P.G.A. of America. Open and close golf course and assist in golf shop operations including opening and closing. Handle all customer services from greeting the patrons to handling customer complaints. Handle cart, range, and merchandising operations. Perform other related work as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Supervise Assistant Golf Professionals in the absence of the Golf Professional. Be a member of the P.G.A. of America. Open and close golf course and assist in golf shop operations including opening and closing of shop. Greet and service customers, collect green fees, and sell merchandise. Adhere to all City Finance Department policies and procedures regarding collection and reporting of financial transactions. Effectively handle customer complaints. Marshal the golf courses to assure customers adhere to rules and regulations, and control play. Teach private lessons. Assist with tournament operations. Operate golf course computer system for tournament operations, handicapping, sign making, and scheduling. Coordinate and adhere to reservation policy for weekends and holidays. Open and close the practice range operation. Maintain the Pro-shop and Clubhouse area; practice good housekeeping. Perform all other duties required to enhance the operation of the golf course to make it the most successful operation possible. Read, write, and converse in the English language. Communicate courteously and effectively with other employees, officials, and the public, in person, by telephone, and in writing. Walk, kneel, sit, squat, twist, and/or stand for long periods of time; lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds of equipment. Work in extreme cold, heat, in temperature swings, indoors, outdoors, and with exposure to the sun.
Requirements
REQUIRED EDUCATION, DEGREES, CERTIFICATES, AND/OR LICENSES:
High school diploma or G.E.D. required. Must be a P.G.A. member.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS:
Five years experience in the golf field required. Must have ability to work well with people and possess congenial attitude towards the public. Must present a neat and well-groomed appearance.
