Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Director of Tourism, the Tourism Special Projects & Visitor Center Coordinator provides high-level administrative, project, and creative support to the Visit Granbury department while overseeing daily Visitor Center operations and assisting with trolley coordination. This position plays a critical role in supporting the Director’s high-volume communications, project management, and organizational needs, while also serving as a frontline ambassador for the City of Granbury.
This position is heavily focused on social media content creation, digital storytelling, visitor engagement, and creative promotion, with a strong emphasis on producing short-form video, photo content, and experiential marketing to reach a diverse travel audience. The coordinator assists with tourism initiatives, events, partner programs, promotions, and special projects, while ensuring the Visitor Center remains welcoming, well-staffed, and operationally efficient.
Typical Duties:
Administrative & Director Support
Provide direct administrative and organizational support to the Director of Tourism, including managing and responding to a high volume of emails, organizing communications, tracking action items, and ensuring timely follow-up.
Assist with scheduling, meeting coordination, project timelines, and internal communications.
Prepare reports, correspondence, presentations, and documentation as needed.
Process invoices, maintain records, and coordinate with Finance and other City departments.
Visitor Center Operations
Oversee daily operations of the Granbury Visitor Center, ensuring a professional, welcoming, and engaging environment.
Coordinate staffing schedules for Visitor Center staff and volunteers; work shifts as needed including some weekends.
Manage tourism materials, displays, maps, and promotional collateral including stocking stakeholder displays at numerous locations.
Track visitor inquiries, visitation data, and engagement metrics for reporting purposes.
Assist with Visitor Center activations, themed displays, book signings, receptions, holiday promotions, and special events.
Trolley Coordination
Assist with coordination of trolley operations, schedules, promotions, and visitor communications.
Support special trolley routes for events, holidays, and tourism initiatives.
Serve as support & liaison between trolley operations and the tourism team as needed.
Social Media, Marketing & Creative Content including Website
Create and produce social media and website content including Reels, short-form videos, photos, stories, and experiential content showcasing Granbury as a destination.
Assist with social media scheduling, content calendars, and campaign execution.
Support the creation of flyers, graphics, digital assets, and website content; Canva experience is strongly preferred.
Assist with e-newsletters, email marketing, and distribution of tourism promotions.
Capture on-site content during events, activations, and peak visitor periods.
Help design and produce marketing materials, flyers, graphics and press releases.
Project & Event Support
Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing tourism-related events, promotions, and special initiatives.
Provide on-site support including setup, vendor coordination, guest engagement, and breakdown.
Assist with staff celebrations, partner appreciation initiatives, and internal department events.
Coordinate and manage the Tourism Department Thank You Program.
Partner & Community Relations
Support communication and coordination with tourism partners including hotels, attractions, restaurants, retailers, and event organizers.
Serve as a friendly and knowledgeable representative of Visit Granbury to visitors, partners, and stakeholders.
Assist with community outreach, presentations, and partner meetings as needed.
Data, Reporting & Technology
Track Visitor Center traffic, event attendance, and tourism engagement metrics.
Assist with reporting related to tourism impact and visitor services.
Utilize and maintain tourism software systems and databases (Simpleview preferred).
Assist with data platforms such as Placer.ai, AirDNA, and similar tools.
General Responsibilities
Work collaboratively with all Visit Granbury and Lake Granbury Conference Center staff in a positive, team-oriented manner.
Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
Maintain regular and consistent attendance; flexible scheduling required including occasional evenings and weekends.
Other Important Duties:
Occasionally attends City, tourism, and community events on evenings and weekends.
Participates in tourism and industry-related organizations, training, and activities.
Travels to attend meetings, events, or training as required.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Regular and consistent attendance for assigned work hours is essential.
Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience
Valid Texas Driver’s License required.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Tourism, Marketing, Communications, Hospitality, or a related field preferred.
High School Diploma or GED required.
1–3 years’ experience in tourism, marketing, hospitality, communications, or customer service preferred.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public-facing presentations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with Canva strongly preferred.
Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, etc.) and content creation.
Experience or willingness to learn tourism CRM and marketing platforms (Simpleview a plus).
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Ability to work independently, anticipate needs, and proactively support leadership.
Tourism-related certifications (CTA Certified Tourism Ambassador, CFEA Certified Festival & Event Associate, CFEE Certified Festival & Event Executive, TTA coursework, or similar) strongly desired.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule including some nights and weekends.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit for extended periods of time in the input or retrieval of computer data and for incoming/outgoing telephone calls. Ability to stand, bend, squat, kneel, push, pull, stoop and carry up to 25 pounds while assisting with Visitor Center displays, events, materials, and promotional/trade show items, literature, computer paper, mail deliveries and supplies.
Work Environment:
Work performed indoors in a climate-controlled office and Visitor Center environment, with occasional outdoor event support. Standard office equipment is used.
