Description
- Provides courteous, professional customer service while maintaining patron confidentiality.
- Performs circulation functions including check-out, check-in, holds, library card registration, fines, and cash handling.
- Provides readers' advisory, basic reference, and technology assistance.
- Assists patrons with computers, printing, Wi-Fi, Microsoft Office, mobile devices, eBooks, online databases, and digital resources.
- Shelves, shelf-reads, shifts, and maintains collections using the Dewey Decimal Classification System.
- Opens and closes the library and assumes responsibility for the building when assigned.
- Maintains accurate statistics and records
- Supports collection maintenance, displays, merchandising, and special projects.
- Maintains a clean, safe, welcoming, and organized library environment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Plans, promotes, presents, and evaluates educational and recreational programs for children, teens, and families.
- Coordinates Summer Reading and seasonal programming.
- Develops early literacy, STEAM, family engagement, and lifelong learning activities.
- Works collaboratively with schools, childcare providers, homeschool groups, community organizations, and City departments.
- Creates displays, promotional materials, and approved social media content supporting library programs.
- Selects, evaluates, and weeds youth collections in coordination with the Library Director.
- Conducts library tours and outreach presentations.
- Works outdoors during community events and summer activities as needed.
Requirements
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication.
- Ability to organize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of library operations and integrated library systems preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and common office technology.
- Ability to adapt to changing technology and priorities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience working with children, teens, or families in a public library, school, childcare, museum, recreation, or educational setting.
- Minimum two (2) years of customer service experience.
- Experience planning educational or recreational programming.
- Associate degree or higher preferred.
- Library experience and Integrated Library System experience preferred.
