Description
Under administrative director of the Director of Development Services, this position will coordinate and cooperate with Development Services staff, Finance Department staff, and Code Enforcement Officers regarding all activities and processes related to short term rentals. Essential job functions will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Review all short-term rental applications, including new, renewal and transfer applications
- Process and track permit applications using the City’s electronic permitting system (MGO)
- Assist the public in submitting applications through third party software
- Cooperate with Code Enforcement Officers regarding property compliance and enforcement of STR ordinance
- Cooperate with HOT/SUT Tax Collection Specialist and Finance Department for hotel occupancy tax compliance
- Schedule inspections of short-term rentals
- Issue short-term rental permits
- Compile necessary reports, researches property information, and initiates appropriate notification procedures to result in STR compliance and permitting
- Issue courtesy notices and correction notices to ensure compliance; conducts follow-up inspections to ensure compliance
- Maintain files and records related to short-term rentals; prepares a variety of written reports, memoranda, and correspondence
- Represent the department when necessary to other city departments, elected officials, outside agencies, and to various citizens and citizen groups
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent, minimum of two (2) years of related experience; some college preferred. Experience in the hospitality industry, real estate management or building permits preferred.
