Description
The Utility Billing Clerk performs intermediate technical and clerical work related to utility billing operations. Responsibilities include processing, reviewing, and verifying utility billing data; preparing and mailing utility bills; processing customer service requests; and assisting customers in person and by telephone. This job description is not intended to be all inclusive and employee will also perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.

× Greets and assists customers in person and by telephone regarding utility accounts, payments, and City services.
× Responds to customer inquiries and complaints related to utility billing and services; follows up as necessary.
× Operates a multiline telephone system; directs calls to appropriate personnel and takes messages as needed.
× Accepts and processes utility service applications, bank draft authorizations, and various service orders.
× Processes utility payments and reconciles the cash drawer; identifies and corrects discrepancies.
× Issues solicitor permits and garbage contractor replacement lists for curbside totes.
× Processes and mails computerized utility bills, disconnect notices, bank drafts, and returned check notices.
× Processes disconnect lists for delinquent utility accounts.
× Performs general office support duties including copying, filing, data entry, maintaining utility records, typing correspondence, ordering supplies, and importing utility reports into the City’s electronic utility billing system.
