Join our dynamic team as a Senior Parks and Recreation Manager where you will lead the planning, coordination, and execution of a diverse range of recreational activities and events designed to inspire, entertain, and engage our community. This role offers an exciting opportunity to create memorable experiences by managing the operations of athletics, community programs, youth and senior programs, community events, and the Aquatic Center.
Requirements
Program Administration
Develop, implement, and promote a variety of indoor and outdoor recreation programs, leagues, activities, and community events that meet the needs of the community. Coordinate with community partners, organizations, and agencies to expand and enhance recreation programming opportunities. Plan, market, and oversee recreation programs, events, and facility rentals throughout the year. Monitor program participation, maintain records, and evaluate customer feedback to improve program effectiveness and service delivery. Prepare reports, agendas, and program documentation while maintaining accurate records for registrations, leagues, and departmental operations. Assist with departmental budgeting, monitor expenditures, and process payment authorizations as needed.
Staff Supervision
Recruit, hire, schedule, train, supervise, and evaluate recreation and aquatic staff and volunteers. Conduct staff meetings, training sessions, and performance evaluations to support professional development and operational standards. Ensure appropriate staffing levels and adherence to departmental policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Facility & Event Management
Inspect recreation facilities and equipment to ensure safe, clean, and efficient operation. Coordinate and oversee special events, recreation programs, and facility rentals at parks and recreation facilities. Assist with city-sponsored events and other departmental initiatives as assigned. Oversee the operations, maintenance, and safety of parks, recreation facilities, and the Aquatic Center, including staffing, programming, and facility management. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation Administration, Public Administration, or related field. Five or more years of experience in Parks and Recreation. Three or more years of supervisory experience required. Preferred Qualifications Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) certification, or the ability to obtain within six (6) months. Experience in sports program administration, or the ability to obtain within six (6) months. CPR/AED and First Aid Instructor certifications.
Special Requirements
Work is performed in both office and outdoor environments. Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and hold equipment or furniture weighing up to sixty (60) pounds. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, reach, twist, and bend as necessary to perform job duties. May be required to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including inclement weather, during programs, events, and emergencies.
