Responsible for supervising staff, facilities, and operations for assigned Parks and Recreation Division.

DUTIES
- Supervise staff and/or volunteers including, but not limited to, ensure external stakeholder needs are met with appropriate program and/or activity availability, complete schedules, review and approve payroll, evaluate staff and customer interactions, seek opportunities to increase staff knowledge, and provide feedback and training on department and City of Denton policies and procedures, as appropriate.
- Perform activities in assigned areas including, but not limited to, plan, organize, and evaluate all division aspects and programs, generate reports, evaluate fee schedules and programs, analyze financial and trend reports and provide recommendations for improvement and/or growth, assist with marketing plan development and implementation to increase revenue, and assist with special events.
- Assist with development of goals, strategies, and business plans to ensure effective center operations; monitor, track, and provide recommendations on programs, activities, and initiates to achieve established goals, strategies, and plans.
- Review, understand, and enforce department policies; provide recommendations to improve program and/or processes, customer experiences, and achieve goals.
- Identify and recommend potential Capital Improvement Project (CIP) opportunities.
- Oversee expansion, renovation, and/or construction of facilities and assist with CIP including design, revenue and expenditure projections.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to acquire competitive quotes, complete appropriate documents for purchasing equipment and materials, and obtain supply services from contracted vendors, as needed.
- Act as liaison to volunteer agencies, public schools, universities, organizations, and agencies in establishing and implementing specialty programs.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and represent the City with committees and organizations.
- Investigate internal and external stakeholder concerns; perform research for issues coordinates and facilitates necessary actions to resolve concern as appropriate; when necessary, communicate directly for identification of service needs and address concern with appropriate written, verbal, or in-person follow-up.
SPECIAL EVENTS/KEEP DENTON BEAUTIFUL
- Oversee, collaborate, and perform planning and executing activities for department special events, programs and activities including, but not limited to, coordinate and plan activities with internal and external stakeholders events, develop, complete, and submit event-related ordinances, and oversee special event permit process for external special events, logistics, personnel and inventory resources, emergency planning and coordination, and sponsorship and donation acquisition.
- Perform duties that provide opportunities for volunteer-intensive activities to City of Denton citizens through planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating all volunteer-intensive programs for KDB and developing and implementing an annual volunteer program plan to recruit, recognize, and retain volunteers.
- Research, recommend and implement new community events, programs, and activities; cultivate new sponsorships and partnerships, facilitate initiatives to maintain existing community partnerships and sponsorships, and facilitate the co-sponsorship program.
- Research volunteer coordination best practices and create clear and thorough job descriptions; provide training for all KDB volunteers to ensure compliance with organizational and department policies and procedures and best practices.
SUPERVISORY/BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES
- Select, train, supervise, and evaluate staff; recommend assignment/assignment change, retention, discipline, and dismissal.
- Develop, manage, and monitor budget; maintain accurate budget reporting; ensure that operations are cost-effective, and funds are managed wisely.

- Environment: If Aquatics, works in an office setting and outside with exposure to sun, heat, cold, humidity, and inclement weather, noise, dust, insects, debris, chemicals, odors, and uneven ground; occasionally requires irregular and/or prolonged hours. - Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position. Must be able to work as designated by department operations including evenings, holidays, weekends, and special events. Must be able to work overtime and respond to after-hour emergencies, as needed.

Requirements
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Parks and Recreation Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field; and,
- One (1) year experience in management or supervisory capacity; and,
- Must have or obtain American Red Cross or American Heart Association Adult CPR, AED & First Aid Certification within 30 days of employment or completed at the next City of Denton offered course (online training is not valid),
OR
- Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Must have and maintain a valid Class “C” Driver’s License and valid state required minimum automobile liability insurance prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class “C” driver’s license and state required minimum automobile liability insurance within 90 days of hire per state law)
