Portland (20,600 population - 15 square miles in area) is located on the north shore of Corpus Christi Bay overlooking downtown Corpus Christi. As the largest city in San Patricio County, Portland consists primarily of upscale residential subdivisions, retail and commercial businesses and no industry within the city limits. Portland's high ratio of homes to businesses combined with a high number of two-earner households make Portland a true bedroom community with many of its residents working either in Corpus Christi or at one of several industrial locations in the North Bay area.
