The city of Harlingen is located in the Rio Grande Valley and is surrounded by other larger cities such as Brownsville, McAllen and the resort city of South Padre Island. The Harlingen Water Works System provides water and waste water services to more than 25,000 customers in the City of Harlingen. The Harlingen Water Works Systems owns and operates two water treatment plants, its own water and waste water distribution systems, and a newly constructed wastewater treatment plant.
