Description

The City of Odessa is seeking a detail-oriented Budget Analyst to support the development and administration of the City’s operational budget. Under basic supervision, this role provides technical assistance throughout the budget development and approval process by gathering and analyzing financial, economic, and demographic data from various departments, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with City policies. Key responsibilities include compiling budget information, researching and presenting budget trends using charts, tables, and narratives, responding to inquiries and resolving issues, and collaborating with team members while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.

Minimum of one year experience in government budgeting and/or accounting operations; two years preferred.

Knowledge of municipal budget preparation and administration principles.

Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for public sector financial management.

Proficient with personal computers, Microsoft Excel, and Word.

Strong analytical and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Ability to organize work effectively, develop strategies, and maintain cooperative working relationships.
