Description
The City of Shiner is seeking a qualified and dependable individual to serve as a part-time Warrant Officer / Court Bailiff. This position is responsible for maintaining courtroom security, executing municipal court warrants, and supporting court operations during scheduled court sessions.
Requirements
Provide security and maintain order in the municipal courtroom during court proceedings.
Execute active municipal court warrants, including locating and arresting individuals as directed.
Escort defendants, witnesses, and prisoners within court facilities as needed.
Ensure compliance with court procedures and directives from the judge.
Assist court staff with administrative or operational tasks related to court functions.
Serve legal documents such as subpoenas, notices, and warrants when required.
Respond to disturbances or emergencies within the courtroom or surrounding areas.
Maintain accurate records and reports related to warrant service and court activities.
Coordinate with local law enforcement agencies as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be a licensed and commissioned Texas Peace Officer
Must be current with all TCOLE requirements
Must successfully pass a background investigation
Strong knowledge of Texas criminal law, court procedures, and warrant processes
Ability to maintain professionalism and composure in high-pressure situations
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience as a court bailiff, warrant officer, or similar law enforcement role
Familiarity with municipal court operations
