The City has 939 budgeted full-time positions, an FY26 total budget of $606 million, and is financially sound with a strong financial resiliency, fiscally conservative budgeting, and proactive responses to economic conditions.
The City is seeking a visionary, forward-thinking leader to serve as its next Director of Finance. Reporting to the Assistant City Manager/Chief Financial Officer, the Director serves as a strategic partner to City executive leadership and City Council, shaping financial policy, ensuring fiscal transparency, guiding long-term fiscal strategy, and ensuring the City’s continued financial strength and resilience. The Director will lead the City’s financial operations team, which includes accounting, purchasing, payroll, accounts payable, utility billing, investments, and municipal debt programs. The Finance Department has 24.5 full-time employees and an operating budget of $4.7 million.
Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field from an accredited university; a Master’s degree and/or CPA is preferred. Candidates must have a minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in municipal finance, city management, or a closely related field, to include at least five (5) years of experience supervising or managing a significant finance-related function and team. A Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO) or Certified Public Finance Official (CPFO) designation is a plus.
In addition to being well qualified, the ideal candidate must have extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of Governmental Accounting and Reporting (GAAP and GASB), experience in organizations with complex financial operations, experience with highly functional ERP systems, and a dedication and passion for public service.
