Description

The Equipment Operator maintains and completes work in Public Works and Water & Wastewater. The incumbent performs maintenance of water & wastewater, streets, drainage and other designated areas. In addition, the incumbent performs maintenance in mowing grass, weed eating and trimming of vegetation.    Work is performed under the general supervision of the Public Works Supervisor and is evaluated by the completeness and efficiency with which assignments are performed.

 Valid Texas Commercial Driver’s License, Class “A” or “B”

Requirements

•         Operates a variety of equipment including vactor truck, brush truck, tractor mower, pickup trucks etc. as needed.
•         Conducts pre-occupation inspections of equipment, identifies equipment problems and reports problems for repairs;
•         Visually inspects equipment for mechanical defects and report’s findings;
•         Communicates unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries to supervisor in order to facilitate prompt correction or reporting;
•         Performs other related duties as required;
•         Observes all safety regulations and communicates potential safety hazards;
•         Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
