Description
| The purpose of this position is to act primarily as vector control technician to the Neighborhood Services staff and assist primarily with mosquito control and prevention efforts. Responsibilities include setting mosquito traps, collecting mosquito samples, delivering samples to the Tarrant County Public Health, and maintaining detailed records. Duties include public education efforts, addressing complaints, abatement, and maintaining maps and spreadsheets. Other duties include cleaning and servicing traps, preparing liquid attractants, obtaining Gambusia minnows for placement in standing water, coordinating with City staff regarding vector control issues, conducting research and analysis, and preparing reports as assigned. Assist with Environmental Resources Division programs, projects and events by carrying out administrative duties including collecting data, sorting, filing, and sending out project files to the right volunteers and stakeholders. Schedule volunteer activities for various events. Maintain accurate records and provide timely statistical and activity reports on volunteer participation. Create and distribute various communications and publications. Identify community outreach opportunities such as fairs, festivals, local markets and organizations to promote all Neighborhood Services programs. Other assignments related to Consumer Health; duties may include program and project assistance, public education, identification of service needs, and courtesy property inspections. Identify various grant opportunities for all Neighborhood Services divisions. This position does not provide direction to other employees. |
Requirements
Intern - Must be enrolled in a college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (junior or senior year preferred) or Master’s degree in Public Health, Environmental Science, or related field. No experience is required. Possession of a Class C Texas Drivers License.
