Stamford, TX. - Police Officer. The City of Stamford is currently taking applications for the position of Patrol Officer.
This position is a patrol position that will enforce laws related to the protection of life and property, direct and control traffic, prevent crime or disturbance of peace, and arrest violators. Essential duties and responsibilities may include patrolling assigned areas, answering radio dispatched and citizens requests for police services; investigation of illegal or suspicious activities, and persons; interviewing and questioning victims, witnesses and suspects; and gathering and preserving evidence. The Police Officer will investigate causes and results of accidents; direct and control traffic, issue citations to violators; operate police communication and computer equipment. The Police Officer will also write detailed incident, investigation, activity and other reports; testify in court to present evidence by describing conditions, situations and actions; work special events, various parades and other duties as may be assigned.
Applicants must possess high school diploma or the equivalent and possess a Peace Officer license certified by TCOLE.

- High school graduate or GED equivalent
- Successful completion of a basic police academy and a temporary license issued by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement
- Must be able to pass an extensive background investigation
- Must be able to pass a physical and drug screen for L-2
- Must be able to pass a psychological exam for L-3
- Must be able to work varied shifts
